Sofy.tv to Launch on Samsung TV Plus Across Europe

28 November, 2020

We announce our partnership with Samsung TV to launch a F.A.S.T version of Sofy.tv on Samsung TV Plus.

Sofy.tv is joining Samsung TV Plus’s existing line up – providing a brand new F.A.S.T channel offering a stellar line up of over 200 shorts, which will be refreshed monthly. In addition, an extra 50 short films will be available on demand, enabling the user to watch anytime, anywhere – instantly on any Samsung TV. Both formats will be available free.

The channel initially launches today across four European countries including; UK, Germany, Switzerland Austria and will roll out further to include France, Spain, and Italy in December.  The channel will be localized with subtitles for each region. Many of the films are exclusive to Sofy.tv, and cannot be found anywhere else, despite the fact that many are award-winning shorts having premiered at major film festivals including: Sundance, Cannes Film Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival.

The on-demand, Sofy.tv entertainment platform, launched in 2018 at The Cannes Film Festival, was specifically created to offer a home for short films. Sofy.tv, facilitates the distribution of short films to a larger audience and supports the filmmakers themselves by providing them with a means to commercialise their short films.

Sami Arpa – Co Founder and CEO, Largo: “We see this partnership with Samsung as a great opportunity to meet the short content form with a wide audience, which has been a mission of Sofy.tv from the start. There are many great short movies that can appeal a variety of the audience, but they stay invisible. Now we bring them to the audience with the special curations and programs”.

Short form content on Sofy.tv will benefit from Largo’s patented software which will be used to curate content ensuring optimum audience appeal. Largo.ai provides cutting edge technology which is able to analyse film content to map the ‘ingredients’ of a film. Such a tool allow Sofy.tv to curate and schedule the films in a sophisticated way  thereby offering its users highly curated slates – revolutionising the way people can watch short films.

Samsung TV Plus gives viewers instant access to top news, sports, entertainment, and more. It’s 100% free and doesn’t require any downloads, sign-up, credit cards, subscriptions or additional devices. All smart TV from 2016+ can enjoy over 80 channels in the UK and over 95 in GSA, including the new addition of sofy.tv.  A current list of all channels available can be found here

Outside of the Samsung Plus platform, Sofy.tv is available direct to consumer on its web platform Sofy.tv as a video-on-demand service.
